VFR OTT (Visual Flight Rules - Over The Top)

The annotation for over-the-top flights allows a licensed pilot to fly in certain condition (VFR) over the cloud layer without any visual references with the ground (OTT). Certain specific meteorological conditions must be present to allow this type of flight. This annotation is included in the professional pilot training.

This type of flight requires from the pilot a pushed flight formation with the instruments and a good knowledge of radio-navigation. It’s the same for what’s with the interpretation and application of meteorological reports and previsions.
